    Starting “The Big Clean” now!

This is a really big project and is going to consist of a bunch of small projects to make sure things stay cleaner and more standardized in the future.

And a lot of it will be behind the scenes so don’t be surprised if you aren’t seeing much happening.

@Justine Baddeley, we're working on a way to separate out concerts that 'appear' to be duplicates (same band, date, venue, location) but really aren't. We'll be implementing a new option where you'll be able to mark a band as an 'Early Show', 'After Party', etc and that will keep them from being merged together. Hopefully we'll have that released in July.

A slight improvement related to this is that you can now 'tag' a photo after you've uploaded it to mark it as a 'gig poster'. This doesn't add the functionality that you were hoping for yet, but it's a step in the right direction :)

There is now a graph on the Overview page and Years pages showing how many concerts you've gone to per year :)

The best way to handle this currently would be to create a separate venue for the original 9:30 Club. I don't know enough about the history to know what the best name would be but something like "9:30 Club (Atlantic Building)" would work. That way you can delineate all of the concerts at the 'original' location and all the people who don't know the history can add their concerts to the regular '9:30 Club' listing.

Can somebody post a link to their Last.fm concert listing? I haven't used Last.fm for this, so I'm not familiar with what's possible there.

It's not an ideal solution but in the meantime a pretty good workaround is to create a separate concert for each day of the festival. As in a concert for "Sasquatch Festival Day 1" another for "Sasquatch Festival Day 2", etc. That'll solve all the issues mentioned for the time being.

I just had a thought on how we might be able to enable this in a slightly different way.

Like I said previously, creating new concerts in our database with the concerts you've marked in Setlist.fm won't work well because they only allow a single band per concert instead of multiple bands like out site and others.

So instead of creating new concerts, we could try to match up your Setlist.fm history with concerts that already exist in our database and automatically mark you as an attendee of those.

It's likely that this process won't transfer all of your concerts (like if a concert isn't in our database or if it doesn't match up for some reason) but it could get a majority and give you a head start in bringing your concerts over.

We have a pretty full ToDo list at the moment, so it wouldn't happen right away,…

Thanks for the suggestion! One issue is that Setlist.fm treats every set/artist as it's own 'concert'. In other words, if 3 bands played at a concert, Setlist.fm treats all 3 of those sets as 3 different concerts. Concert Archives treats all 3 of those sets as part of a single concert. It'd be pretty tricky to import that data from Setlist.fm without creating a ton of single-band concerts.

Is the goal just to record & remember who you went with? If so, you could use the new 'Private Comments' feature to save this information for the time being.

There are a couple of different requests here, so I'll address them separately:

    - Reordering bands: This has now been added! You can re-order to your heart's content :)

    - Editing bands: I can see how this can be annoying but it's by design. The way the system is set up, if you had the ability to edit a typo in the band that would actually edit that band name across the entire database. Sometimes that's a good thing, but it can lead to big problems. Like if somebody accidentally changed the band 'U2' to 'Sheryl Crow'. Then every U2 concert would be changed to Sheryl Crow! I'll look at different ways to handle this in the future, but that's the reason it's like that :)

I’m curious if there are other users who would be interested in a forum to discuss concerts, etc.

I’ve been receiving a lot of email lately from people with questions about specific concerts that I’m just not able to respond to. A forum might be a good solution where the community can help each other.

Thanks for the suggestion! In the meantime, you can put the setlist in the 'Notes' field for that concert.

The best way to deal with this currently would be to create a separate venues for the main room and the secondary room. For example the new venue would be "The Trocadero Theatre - The Balcony" vs "The Trocadero Theatre". Make sense?

    Thanks for the suggestion!

Other users have also brought up the issue where setlists might be wrong for multi-day concerts. The best workaround I've seen somebody do so far is to create a separate concert for each day of the festival. For example "Bonaroo Day 1". That way they can add the bands that they saw that day and the setlists will be correct. Same for "Bonaroo Day 2", etc.
